March designed a shaft work deck in cooperation with Nutrien Allan and STCI. The shaft work deck is used in the service shaft to allow workers to perform maintenance activities within the shaft. The work deck included a falling object protection system (FOPS) to protect workers from falling objects equivalent to a basketball size chuck of potash (50 lb) falling at 240 km/h. The work deck was fabricated by STCI and put into service. After initial service, Nutrien Allan provided areas for improvement that were incorporated into the final work deck.
