Finite Element Analysis and Design of a Rotating Vessel - Vale, Sudbury
March completed a detailed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) of a nickel reactor using advanced Finite Element Modeling (FEM). The model utilized solid, shell and contact elements to predict the stresses and deflections in the reactor wall and tires. The vessel is subjected to high temperature and pressure. Based on the results of the FEA, locations were repairs were required were determined and communicated to the client. The materials of construction of the reactor was steel.
